Holiday boutique goes back in time

Locally made artwork and gift items again fill the Red Wing Arts Association as the annual holiday boutique opens.

Find uncommon jewelry, scarves, quilts, hats, bags, pottery, cards, artwork, photography, prints and more.

The boutique officially opens 10 a.m. Saturday Nov. 2. A public open house follows Saturday Nov. 9 when the Vogel Gallery show “Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall – Red Wing’s Four Seasons” opens.

This year’s theme for the boutique is “An Old-fashioned Christmas.” Decorations include an antique baby crib more than 100 years old, an antique high chair and immigrant trunks.

“We want visitors to feel a sense of stepping back to a time when nearly all presents were made by hand with loving care,” RWAA Assistant Director Arlene Roth said. “Our society is changing to appreciate individually produced items that are made locally.”

The gallery itself houses more than 80 member artists’ work.

Red Wing Depot Gallery is open noon to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. The Boutique will be open until 7 p.m. Friday Nov. 29 for the Red Wing Holiday Stroll.

Red Wing Arts Association also has several shows in Red Wing Depot Gallery. The schedule for the remainder of 2013 can be found at
