Crossings looking for art and poetry
Like to write poetry or are you creative? Then Crossings at Carnegie in Zumbrota may be looking for your work.
Two separate exhibits will features local art and written word.
“Fabrications Ten” is a group show of fiber and textile arts and handcrafted jewelry displayed at Crossings’ art gallery during December.
Entries can include artwork such as contemporary gallery pieces, wall hangings, three-dimensional fiber sculpture, wearable art of all types, handcrafted jewelry and holiday ornaments. Jurors will focus particularly on innovative designs and craftsmanship.
Any artist may submit three to five clearly labeled original pieces with an entry form and $15 entry fee per person by Saturday Nov. 9.
Entries are also being sought for another annual exhibit, “Poet-Artist Collaboration,” taking place during National Poetry Month in April.
Poets are invited to submit up to three poems along with a $5 entry fee. Poems will be chosen by a jury. Each poem must be no longer than two typed pages.
Artists may apply to participate by submitting some examples of their work along with a $15 entry fee. Artists also will be juried and may create paintings, textiles, sculptures, mixed media works and more.
Registration deadline for both poets and artists in the “Poet-Artist Collaboration” is Wednesday Jan. 29.
Once the poems are selected, the participating artists are each able to select a poem, then create a piece of art inspired by the poem. Actual works for the exhibit are due shortly before the installation of the exhibit.
