Red Wing Area Seniors — Pier 55

The Red Wing Senior Center's new location and name is Pier 55, 240 Harrison St. All events listed are held at the Pier 55 unless otherwise noted. Phone number is 651-327-2255.

Seniors offered seizures training

The Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota will conduct a free training for seizures at 2 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 17. Call Pier 55 to sign up.

Flu Clinic

Red Wing Corner Drug's Walgreen Pharmacy will be at Pier 55 from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 17 for a flu clinic. If possible call to sign up, walk-ins are welcome. Medicare covers flu shots, otherwise cost is $25.99. Call Pier 55 at 651-327-2255.

Pie social set

Enjoy coffee and pie with live music from the Boathouse Band from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 18. Everyone is welcome. Cost $5 for coffee and pie.

Senior forum goes 'new'

Dr. Bruce McBeath leads a senior forum at 10 a.m. Thursday Sept. 19. He will talk about exploring new ventures in older years — from adding a new relationship to a new skill.

Explore recreational painting

An ArtReach instructor will teach a painting class from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday Sept. 19. Social time with wine begins at 5:30 p.m. All skill levels welcome. Cost $39 members, $45 nonmembers. Class size is limited, call to sign up.

Play cards and games

The following games will be played: Euchre — 1 p.m. Monday Sept. 16; Duplicate Bridge — 12:15 p.m. Thursday Sept. 19; Scrabble - 1 p.m. Wednesdays; Fun Bridge — 10 a.m. Wednesdays; Chess — 1 p.m. Wednesdays

A foot care clinic is available Thursdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. with a home health nurse. To schedule an appointment, call Red Wing Homecare and Hospice at 651-385-3410. The cost is $34.

Live performance

Carrie Vecchione and Rolf Erdahl present "Saint-Seans and 'The Carnival of the Animals,'" at 2:15 p.m. Friday Sept. 13. Family, friends, kids and grandkids are invited to attend.

Dance and dine while fighting dementia

The Polka Days for the Walk, a fundraiser leading up to the Walk to End Alzheimier's set for Sept. 21 at Colvill Park, will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday Sept. 12 in the side parking lot. A BBQ plus music by Ray Sands and the Polka Dots are planned.

Tickets are $10 for adults. Seniors over 65 and kids 10 and under pay $5. All proceeds go to the Red Wing walk. People may purchase tickets in advance or at the door.

Jordan Towers

Jordan Towers are located in the 400 block of West Fifth Street in downtown Red Wing. All events listed are held at Jordan Tower I or II unless otherwise noted.


Here's the schedule of games to be played in the Jordan Tower II Sailstad Room: Bingo - 1 p.m. Mondays and Saturdays, 6:30 p.m. Thursdays. Euchre — 6:30 p.m. Fridays.

Support services offered

Several support groups and services are available.

*Monthly diabetes support group will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 17 in the café at Jordan Towers. The service is offered by St. Brigid's Hi-Park volunteers.
