Hot Reads features Hautman, who will talk about writing

Award-winning author Pete Hautman will appear at the Red Wing Public Library at 10 a.m. Saturday Feb. 23 in the Foot Room.

Hautman won a 2004 National Book Award for his young adult novel "Godless." He was the first Minnesotan to win the award in the Young People's Literature category. He earned a Minnesota Book Award in 2003 for "Sweetblood," another young adult book, and was a finalist for the 2007 Minnesota Book Awards for "Rash." He has written other young adult books, adult thrillers and crime comedies, and nonfiction works for children.

Hautman splits time between Golden Valley, Minn., and Stockholm, Wis., with his partner, award-winning writer Mary Logue. They have collaborated on the Bloodwater mystery series for young people with a setting that closely resembles Red Wing.

This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Red Wing Library Book Club as part of Hot Reads for Cold Nights. Refreshments will be served and door prizes given.

For any special adaptive equipment needs, call the library at 651-385-3645 at least seven days before the program.
