The Red Wing School Board held its regular meeting on August 21, 2017 in the Red Wing City Hall Chambers. Board members, excluding Steve Anderson, Superintendent Karsten Anderson, staff and public were present. Chair Farrar called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
Motion made by Jones and seconded by Christensen to approve the meeting agenda as presented. Motion carried 6-0.
2.1 Recognitions and Upcoming Events
Several recognitions were shared with the school board.

2.3 Construction Update:
Superintendent Anderson provided an update about construction activities.
2.4 Strategic Plan Update:
Joe Jezierski, Director of Teaching and Learning, provided an update about the school district's strategic planning progress.
2.5 Operating Levy Update:
Superintendent Anderson provided an update about the upcoming operating levy referendum.
2.6 MCA Results:
Joe Jezierski, Director of Teaching and Learning, provided information outlining student achievement results from the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments in 2017.
2.7 Reports and Committee Notes:
Committee meeting notes and reports were reviewed.

4.Reassignment: Mark Dugstad, Night Custodian at Sunnyside Elementary School, effective TBD (due to a resignation); Dale Strusz, Night Custodian at Burnside Elementary School, effective TBD (due to a resignation).
5.Resignation: Laura Lane, Student Supervisor at Twin Bluff Middle School, effective August 14, 2017.
Motion made by Jones and seconded by Borgschatz to approve the consent agenda as presented. Motion carried 6-0.
3.2 Site Handbooks:
Motion made by Christensen and seconded by Borgschatz to approve the Sunnyside Elementary, Burnside Elementary, Twin Bluff Middle School, Red Wing High School, and Tower View Alternative Learning Center Student Handbooks. Motion carried 6-0.
3.3 Restrictive Procedures Handbook:
Motion made by Jones and seconded by Christensen to approve the Restrictive Procedures Plan as presented. Motion carried 6-0.
3.4 Truth-in-Taxation Hearing Date:
Motion made by Roe and seconded by Christensen to set the district's Truth-in-Taxation hearing for Monday, December 4th at 6:00 pm in the Red Wing High School Media Center. Motion carried 6-0.
3.5 Special Meeting to Canvass Election Results:
Motion made by Diercks and seconded by Roe to conduct a special meeting on November 13th at 5:30 pm in the district office to canvass election results from the operating levy referendum. Motion carried 6-0.
