As a Red Wing homeowner I for one am very grateful to the people working in the Public Works Department for the fine job they have been doing pickup up all the broken branches and other debris resulting from the destructive snow storm that hit Red Wing and the surrounding area May 1 and 2.
The endorsement letters for Red Wing’s special mayoral election have started trickling into our office. There are less than four weeks before June 11, when citizens will decide which of six candidates will become the community’s titular head. The time to weigh in is now.
As Goodhue County attorney, I have been involved with assisting the Goodhue County Board and the County Planning Advisory Commission in their review of issues surrounding silica (frac) sand mining, processing and transportation here.
In the past two years, Florence and Hay Creek townships and the city of Red Wing have taken advantage of the Goodhue County moratorium on frac sand mines to strengthen local comprehensive plans and ordinances to protect their environments.
More and more Minnesotans are telling me, “It’s about time.”
A South St. Paul mom and dad are having a difficult time balancing work and family. They feel time spent with their children — something we all dearly covet and our kids direly need — is harder to come by.
