Michael Osskopp’s letter to the editor is extremely misleading. It would be a biased and inaccurately revisionist version of history to pretend that U.S. Rep. John Kline has a perfect track record when it comes to meeting with constituents (R-E, June 12).
While Congressman John Kline works at the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C., and I work at the state Capitol in St. Paul, we share the common thread of proudly representing Minnesotans. We also share the belief that contact with our constituents is fundamental to our representation.
For six years, Congressman John Kline has made it a priority to meet with constituents and discuss issues important to them. Readers should be wary of commentary that attacks Kline on one hand and promotes a candidate’s fundraising Web site on the other (R-E, June 4).

To the Editor:
There have been 259 consecutive Friday night peace vigils in John Rich Park since the invasion of Iraq on March 20, 2003. Exercising the Bill of Rights is a great thing. Continuing the Iraq war is not so great.
It's been a kind of perverse pleasure to watch Sen. John McCain overcome the vitriol of talk radio's conservative goon squad. Despite vicious broadsides from Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham (and their sycophants on regional and local talk radio), McCain emerged as the Republican front-runner.
If Sen. John McCain and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani are such good friends, the last thing Giuliani should have done was endorse the senator's bid for the presidency. McCain is having a tough enough time convincing Republican conservatives that he's the right kind of conservative, which, according to the party's right-wing core, Giuliani is not.
