ST. PAUL -- Red Wing seniors Luke Johnson and Bryant Blahnik made the most of their final day as high school athletes. Johnson captured his first individual state title by winning the Class AA discus Saturday and Blahnik took third in the 1,600-meter run at Hamline University’s Klas Field.
Nate Zibolski did all he could in the bottom of the seventh Thursday evening in Cannon Falls with his team down 3-1. The senior came up with two outs and Matt Hernke on first and promptly hit his first career home run to send the game to extras. However, Byron struck in the ninth to hand Cannon Falls a season-ending loss.
