Belle Creek takes title
The 2010 4-H softball season ended July 18 with the Belle Creek Peppy Peppers taking the junior division title. The club defeated the Goodhue/Burnside team 9-4 in the semifinals and it then defeated Aspelund 10-3 in the championship game.

Little kids play with the big kids
It was YMCA Mighty Mite Day at the Athletic Field on Sunday when the Red Wing Aces hosted the Hampton Cardinals. The children participated in a relay race and played a game with the Red Wing players before the amateur baseball game began.

Youth sports: Regional champs
The Red Wing U17 boys soccer team won the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association's Regional Championship with a 4-2 victory against Albert Lea and advanced to the state tournament Sunday in Coon Rapids. Lucio Gomez scored four unanswered goals in the second half Wednesday in Shakopee to clinch the come-from-behind victory.
