An era came to an end Tuesday when Katie Gillman and Rose Alleva lost to Lakeville South’s Erika Williams and Shelby Henderson in the Section 1AA individual tournament at the Life Time Fitness in Lakeville, Minn.

Tigers’ doubles teams fail to advance in Section 1A action 
The Lake City doubles team of senior Kristi Breyfogle and junior Annalise Wallerich lost a true second-place match Tuesday at the Rochester Athletic Club and failed to advanced out of the Section 1A individual tournament.

Lake City struggled in three-set matches and lost at home to St. Paul Academy and Summit School 5-2 in the Section 1A semifinals Thursday. The Spartans, seeded No. 3, won three of the five three-setters.

The Bombers fell in an upset at the hands of Stewartville in the first round of Section 1A Tournament action in Rochester. Cannon Falls was the No. 4 seed, while Stewartville was the seeded fifth.

All four Ellsworth singles players advanced out of Monday’s sub-sectional tournament in Osceola, Wis. Their success helped the Panthers tie Baldwin-Woodville for the sub-section lead with 16 points.

UPDATED: Red Wing vs. Shakopee girls tennis preview
The Red Wing girls tennis team plays host Friday to Shakopee in a Missota Conference showdown. The meet, which was rained out Tuesday, will start at 4 or 4:15 p.m., according to Wingers coach Tom Gillman. The Sabers have had a strong season and were the subject of a recent Star Tribune story.
