Red Wing is the fourth-ranked Class A team in the preason poll appearing in today's issue of Let’s Play Hockey. The Wingers return all but two players from last year's team that finished third at state. The team opens play Nov. 17 at Hastings. Warroad, the runner-up in 2009, is ranked No. 1.

The Red Wing girls tennis team plays host Friday to Shakopee in a Missota Conference showdown. The meet, which was rained out Tuesday, will start at 4 or 4:15 p.m., according to Wingers coach Tom Gillman. The Sabers have had a strong season and  were the subject of a recent Star Tribune story.
