Letter: Capital needs Bills and 'Econ 101'
When Amy Klobuchar ran for the U.S. Senate in 2006, she said having a $300 billion deficit was immoral. Yet, in her six years in the Senate, she has voted for nearly $8 trillion in new debt resulting in deficits exceeding a trillion dollars for four years in a row. The federal debt is now over $16 trillion — that’s $55,000 a citizen or $220,000 for a family of 4. In addition, she has voted for $46 billion in earmarks.

Letter: Don't take anger out on citizens
Dean Adams, in his letter (R-E, Oct. 24) urged a “no” vote on the local option sales tax because he was upset about the lack of transparency in the city staff. He wanted information about salaries of city staff and the city did not provide the information as quickly as he wanted.

The Nov. 6 election will feature three important funding questions for the Red Wing School District. Due to required legal language, the questions may appear confusing, and you certainly will wonder if it will affect your property taxes.

Letter: Big oil's team would crush Goodhue County
Ted Seifert, candidate for County Board, in his R-E interview seems to be under the impression regarding silica sand mining that the county, its attorney, land-use staff and others would be on an even playing field in any confrontation over the 40-page mine ordinance — yet to be created — with one of the largest oil companies in the world.
