Florence Hickey, 100

Mrs. Hickey, 100, of West Concord in recent years, died Saturday, March 16, at Circle Drive Manor near West Concord.

A memorial service will be held for Florence Hickey at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the United Methodist Church in Pine Island. The Reverend Deanna Woodward will officiate. Interment of the urn will follow the service at Pine Island Cemetery. Mrs. Hickey, 100, of West Concord in recent years, died Saturday, March 16, at Circle Drive Manor near West Concord. Prior to moving to Circle Manor in West Concord, she was a lifelong resident of Pine Island.

Florence Elsie Karow was born March 14, 1913, in Pine Island Township, Goodhue County, Minn., the daughter of August and Agnes (nee Stiller) Karow. She graduated from Pine Island High School in 1932. On Sept. 10, 1932, she married Ralph Bradshaw, and they later divorced. She married Tracy Hickey on June 10, 1956. In the 1950s, Florence began working in the environmental services department at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Working there for over 20 years, she retired in 1973. She also worked in the environmental services department of Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. Her husband, Tracy, was a gravel truck driver.

Florence loved being a grandmother, gardening, and will be remembered as a humble and loving person. She was a member of Pine Island United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Janice Bennerotte of Wasioja; a son, Dallas (Rosemary) Bradshaw of rural Pine Island; grandchildren, Richard (Pauline) Rhodes, Rhonda (Dave) Rhodes, Rose (Rick) Phipps, Roland (Marcia) Bennerotte, Roger (Marlys) Bennerotte, Roxanne (Steve) Bennerotte, Nancy (Matthew) Hertz, Theresa (Tom) Benda, Denise (Neal) Weis, Dawn (Jim) Rew, Dan (Sue) Bradshaw, and Deb (Brian) Shanks; 27 great-grandchildren; and 35 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tracy Hickey; a son, Dave Bradshaw; two brothers, Erwin and Garhart; and three sisters, Mable, Louise, and Irene.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Mahler Chapel, in Pine Island.
