Vincent "Vinnie" James Kafka, 20, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 16, at his home.
Vincent "Vinnie" James Kafka, 20, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 16, at his home.
He was born Nov. 30, 1992, in Red Wing, son of Steven and Lynda (Wegner) Kafka. He attended school in Cannon Falls and then the Towerview School in Red Wing, graduating in 2012. When he was younger, he worked at McDonald's and Bev's Café, and in November of 2012, he began working at Capital Safety where he presently was employed.
In his spare time, he enjoyed bike riding, fishing, doing mechanical work, playing football and video games, climbing the bluff, and exploring. Vinnie was very creative, smart, inventive, outgoing, and more than anything a happy-go-lucky guy who loved spending time with his cousins, friends, and his girlfriend, Haily.
He is survived by his parents, Steve and Lynda Kafka of Red Wing; one sister, Cassandra Kafka of Red Wing; paternal grandparents, Jerome and Mildred Kafka of Red Wing; maternal grandparents, Brenda (DeRoy) Lundell of White Rock, Bobby (JoAnn) Wegner of Cannon Falls; aunts and uncles James (Stacy) Kafka, Bobby (Janine) Wegner, Chris Wegner, William Ashenfelter, Katie (Andrew) Schweisthal, Karla (Luke) Graff, Stacy (David) Zelina, and Michelle (Radar) Phares; numerous cousins; and his girlfriend, Haily Majerus of Red Wing.
Preceded in death by grandfather, Robert Ashenfelter, and uncle Gregory Kafka.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with Reverend Ron Wik officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, and 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday, all at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the Vincent "Vinnie" Kafka Memorial Fund at the White Rock Bank.
