Roy George Louis Nesburg, 85, of Red Wing, formerly of Fairfax, died Sunday, Feb. 17, at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park in Red Wing.

Roy George Louis Nesburg, 85, of Red Wing, formerly of Fairfax, died Sunday, Feb. 17, at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park in Red Wing.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1927, in Camp Township, Renville County, Minn., to Oscar and Sophie (Borth) Nesburg. He grew up in the Franklin and Fairfax area where he attended District #10 school. He farmed with his father before enlisting into the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1946. Following his discharge, he returned to Camp Township. On June 12, 1956, he married Ardelle Bartels at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. They farmed in the Fairfax area until 1984 when they moved to Red Wing. He did carpentry work until he retired in 2001.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Wing, Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54, served on the Elevator board in Fairfax, and was a former member of Central Lutheran Church in Fairfax, where he served on the church board. He was an inventor and holds a patent and also enjoyed woodworking and spending time with all his family.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ardelle; four children, Robin (Julie) Nesburg of Fairfax, Judy (Jerry) Plein of Red Wing, Patrick (Dawn) Nesburg of Shakopee, and Lisa (Brett) Sievers of Red Wing; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Phillip (Shelsie) Nesburg and their children, Sebastian, Collette, and Camile; Renae (Nathan) Busse and their children, Eva and Holdan; Marcus and Nic Plein, Nathan, Lucas, and Brady Sievers, and Isaac and Jake Nesburg; one brother, James (Martha) Nesburg of Redwood Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Deryle.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Central Lutheran Church, rural Fairfax. Burial will be in Hauges Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing, and at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Wing or Central Lutheran Church in Fairfax.
