Charles Alvin "Cal" Lindquist, 71, Red Wing, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Mayo Health System-Red Wing.
Charles Alvin "Cal" Lindquist, 71, Red Wing, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Mayo Health System-Red Wing.
He was born April 9, 1941, in Pengilly, Minn., the son of Gus and Milada (Rackunek) Lindquist. He grew up in the Pengilly-Nashwauk area, graduating from Nashwauk High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1963 as an airline mechanic. He married Patricia Stumpf. They had three children together and later divorced. He met Linda Olson in 1976. He worked as a sales associate for Jorgenson's and Amdahl's Motors for 41 years, retiring in 2012.
He enjoyed fishing, watching football and NASCAR races, and eagle watching.
Survivors include his loving companion, Linda Olson; children, Peggy Sue (Roger) Moss of New Jersey, Julie (Pat) Murer of Kentucky, Billy John "BJ" Lindquist of South Dakota, Taffi (nee Olson) (George) Wright of Colorado, Rowdi (Diane) Olson of Byron, Minn., and Tawni Olson of Burnsville, Minn.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Dakoda, Bobby, Hannah Grace, Kaitlyn, Zach, Erin, Adam, Heather, Cassidi, Chelsi; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Blake, Oliver, and Eleanor; siblings Carol (Ted) Sarago of Hibbing, Minn., Clarence (Marcy) Lindquist of California, and Patti Wirtanen of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gus Lindquist; his stepfather, Pete Rosato; his mother, Milada; two brothers, Carl and Clifford Lindquist; and one sister, Rosemary Friedman.
There will be a visitation 12-3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
