Dale Edwin Erickson, 87, of Red Wing, died Thursday, Jan. 31, at St. Brigid’s at Hi-Park.
Dale Edwin Erickson, 87, of Red Wing, died Thursday, Jan. 31, at St. Brigid’s at Hi-Park.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1925, in Maiden Rock to Edwin and Inez (Larson) Erickson. He attended Pine Creek schools and graduated from Maiden Rock High School in 1943. For many years, he farmed in Maiden Rock Township. On May 24, 1958, he married Grace Rose at First United Methodist Church in Red Wing. In 2000, they retired and moved to Red Wing. Grace died on Oct. 24, 2008.
He was a member of Lund Covenant Church where he served on the church board along with driving the Sunday school van. While residing in Red Wing, he and Grace attended First Covenant Church. He was a former member of the NFO, volunteered driving cars at the Mayo Health Systems in Red Wing, and was an avid baseball fan.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary (Bob) Mach of La Crescent, Minn.; one grandson, Matthew Mach of La Crescent; one brother, Lloyd (JoAnne) Erickson of Minneapolis; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Lorraine Nelson of Red Wing.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one sister, Betty Winberg.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Lund Covenant Church in Lund with Rev. Greg Satterberg officiating. Spring burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service.
