Betty J. (Kirkwood) Speetzen of Montevideo, formerly of Red Wing, died Sunday, Jan. 27, following a brief hospital and nursing home stay.
Betty J. (Kirkwood) Speetzen of Montevideo, formerly of Red Wing, died Sunday, Jan. 27, following a brief hospital and nursing home stay.
She was born March 24, 1930, in St. Paul, daughter of Alexander Nesbit and Bertha Johanna (Rademacher) Kirkwood. She married James R. Speetzen on Feb. 15, 1948, in Hudson, Wis.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Steven) Iacuzzi of Caanan, N.H., and Valerie Speetzen of Montevideo, Minn.; five sons, Dale (Susan) Speetzen of Apple Valley, Minn., Ron (Amy) Speetzen of Esko, Minn., Dean (Linda) Speetzen of Prescott, Wis., Dennis (Kathy) Speetzen of Minneapolis, Minn., and Alan (Peggy) Speetzen of Clyde, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Speetzen; her sister, Pat Irestone; two brothers, Jack Kirkwood and James Kirkwood; and one son, Wayne.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Brian Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and also for 1 hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
