Marian Katherine Franklin, 88, Goodhue, died Thursday, Jan. 17, at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, Minn.
She was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Oronoco, Minn., the daughter of Herman and Pauline (Woitte) Glabe. She was a 1941 graduate of Red Wing High School. She married Orville Franklin on Oct. 14, 1950, in Red Wing, and she worked at the Cannonball Restaurant and was a homemaker. Orville died Dec. 11, 2002.
She was a member of St. Columbkill Catholic Church in Belle Creek and of the Belle Creek Country Belles. Marian was a very kind and considerate person and a wonderful homemaker.
Survivors include four children, Nancy (John) Thorp of Wyoming, Minn., Dan (Suzanne) Franklin of Cannon Falls, Pat Franklin of Goodhue, and Connie (Pat) Brookshaw of Hager City, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville; one son, Wayne Dearman; and one brother, Paul Glabe.
Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at St. Columbkill Catholic Church, Belle Creek, with Father Fernando Ortega officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and on Monday for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Angels Care Center Memory Unit or the American Alzheimer's Association.
