Anita Marcia Peterson, 83, of Ellsworth, Wis., passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, at Seminary Home, Red Wing, where she had resided for one day.
Anita Marcia Peterson, 83, of Ellsworth, Wis., passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, at Seminary Home, Red Wing, where she had resided for one day.
She was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Red Wing, the daughter of David and Martha (Sorensen) Anway. She attended schools in Red Wing, Vasa, Burnside, Featherstone Township, and Hager City. Her 1947 graduation from Red Wing High School was held at the Sheldon Theater. She married Delmar Peterson at Laurel Presbyterian Church on May 31, 1958. To this union were born Heidi Jo, Becky Sue, Dwight David, and Pamela Jayne. She worked in several cities including Red Wing; Pasadena, Calif.; Chicago, Ill.; and Minneapolis, Minn. One of her most interesting jobs was at the Billy Graham office in Minneapolis where she did payroll and made out Billy Graham's check and co-signed it. At the age of 55, she enrolled at the Red Wing Technical College and received a secretarial diploma. She also worked as a certified nursing assistant and did some home health work.
She enjoyed nature, teddy bears, music, creating photo albums, using stickers, reading, and word find puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar, on Jan. 6, 2012; her children Dwight David, Becky Sue; one grandson, Joshua John Renschen; her parents; and two brothers, Ronnie and Terry Anway.
Survivors include her daughters Heidi (John) Renschen of Red Wing and Pamela (Randy) Hiuga of Sacramento, Calif.; grandchildren Andrew (Kristen) Renschen of St. Louis Park, Kendall (Thomas) Peterson of Ellsworth, Chloe and Ryan Hiuga of Sacramento; brother-in-law, Ritchie (Fran) Peterson of Ham Lake; and one sister-in-law, Eleanor Peterson of Red Wing.
Per Delmar and Anita's request, a private burial will be held at Bethel Covenant Cemetery at a later date.
