Marie M. Hill, age 81, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Seminary Home.

Marie M. Hill, age 81, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Seminary Home.

She was born Dec. 11, 1930, in Fairmount, N.D., to Bernard and Alvina (Bonifas) Koester. She graduated from Wadena High School in 1948, and while in school, she was involved in several activities, including the school band. She was an accomplished musician, and music was something she enjoyed through her life. On June 2, 1951, she married Calvin Hill in Brainerd. Calvin's military career brought them many places, living in South Carolina, Spain, Illinois, and Hawaii. They returned to Minnesota in 1965 and came to Red Wing in 1966. She worked as an administrative assistant at various places throughout her life and in Red Wing had worked for the Red Wing School district and later for Citizen's Security.

Marie was a member of First Lutheran Church, and in addition to her love for music, she also enjoyed bird watching, reading, doing word find puzzles, gardening, and flowers.

She is survived by five children, Dave (Sheryl) Hill, Mike (Pattie) Hill, Jeff Hill, Brad (Nancy) Hill, and Heidi Hill, all of Red Wing; eight grandchildren, Katherine Knorr, Jordan, Hanna, Ryan, Tyler, Gracie, Jacob, and Emma Hill; four siblings, Don (Margaret) Koester of Fergus Falls, Lorraine (Basil) Keller of Fergus Falls, Ken (Shirley) Koester of Effie, and Anita (Wally) Mohs of Fergus Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Calvin.

A private family service was held with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials preferred to American Cancer Society, Parkinson Association, or the American Heart Association.

Marie's family would like to thank the staff at Potter Ridge and Seminary Home for all their loving care and kindness, as well as the Red Wing Fire Department and the Mayo Clinic Health Systems ER and ICU staff.
