Elaine Augusta Gibson, age 91, of Zumbrota, formerly of Deming, N.M., died on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Zumbrota Health Services in Zumbrota.
Elaine Augusta Gibson, age 91, of Zumbrota, formerly of Deming, N.M., died on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Zumbrota Health Services in Zumbrota.
Elaine was born on Nov. 4, 1920, at home in Goodhue County, to Edward and Myrtle (nee Schulz) Bucher, and grew up in Minneola Township. After attending Winona Teachers college and the Minnesota School of Business, she moved to California where she met Samuel Gibson. They were married for 48 years.
Elaine and her husband enjoyed the outdoors and were avid bird watchers. They moved to Deming, N.M., where Elaine lived for 16 years. Samuel died on July 17, 1999. Elaine later returned to Minnesota in 2002. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota.
Elaine is survived by her sisters Ethelyn Olson of Minneapolis, Carol (Steve) Chamberlin of St. Louis Park; brother Joyce (Phyllis) Bucher of Zumbrota; nieces and nephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; one brother, Wayne; and two sisters, Verona Wood and Alice Thorie.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, with Reverend Wayne D. Schoch officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
Memorials are preferred to the church or donor's choice.
Arrangements were made with Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
