Arlene Hansen, age 90, of Cannon Falls, died peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 11, at home, surrounded by her family.

Arlene Hansen, age 90, of Cannon Falls, died peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 11, at home, surrounded by her family.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Spring Garden Lutheran Church, 10239 County 1 Blvd, Cannon Falls, with Rev. Nick Fisher-Broin officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Highway 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, and also for 1 hour prior to the service at church.

Arlene Showers Hansen was born on Oct. 9, 1921, in Livingston, Wis., the oldest of five siblings. She was the daughter of Leroy and Nina Kreisler. She married Howard L. Showers on April 15, 1940. They moved to Cannon Falls in 1946 so Howard was closer to his work with Northwestern Airlines, where he worked as a pilot. Arlene was a stay-at-home mom for years before working as an evening supervisor at Kid Duds. Later she worked as a cook at the Mineral Springs Center and the Cannon Falls High School. During her summers, she worked as a cook at the Cannon Falls Boy Scout Camp. She also worked as a cook at Barney's Pizza for a couple of years.

After retirement, she was an active member of Spring Garden Church helping the ELCA. She was a devoted volunteer who delivered Meals on Wheels up until her death. She loved growing flowers, arts and crafts, working in her garden, and baking. She had a deep love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Arlene was married to Willis Hansen on Oct. 18, 1986, at the Congregational Church in Cannon Falls. They lived in Mankato, Minn., for 5 years before moving back to Cannon Falls in 1992. They have lived at Riverside Terrace since that time.

She is survived by her husband, Willis; children, Ray Showers of Prescott, Wis., Stephen (Phyllis) Showers of Welch, Minn., Michael Showers of Pine City, Minn., Nina (David) Pagel of Cannon Falls, Jeffrey (Diane) Showers of Ankey, Iowa, and Sheryl Robles of Cannon Falls; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kerry (Helen) Kreisler, Greg (Delores) Kreisler, and Randall Kreisler; stepson, Don (Karen) Hansen; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five grandchildren, Raymond Showers, Justin and Abbey Showers, Jeff McDonald, Arica Pagel; daughter-in-law Sara Showers; and sister, Judith McElroy.
