Margaret Louise Kidd, age 97, of Red Wing, formerly of Lake City, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, in her residence at Potter Ridge Assisted Living Community.

Margaret was born on July 5, 1915, in Stockholm, Wis., to Carl and Ida (Julian) Brostrom. She grew up on a farm in the area and attended country school. As a young woman, she held a variety of positions, one being as a cook aboard the Mayo brothers' yacht, the North Star. As time went on, she met and married LeRoy W. Kidd of Pepin, Wis., and became a full-time homemaker.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, music, church activities, and socializing, particularly during the 16-plus years she lived at the Downtown Plaza in Red Wing following the death of her husband. She was a member of First Lutheran Church.

Margaret is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Tom) Roach of Hephzibah, Ga.; several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ida Brostrom; her husband, LeRoy Kidd; and her siblings, Helen Larson and Ernest Brostrom.

A memorial service may be held at a later date as Margaret donated her body to the medical school at Mayo. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
