Gladys Marie Siewert, 96, lifelong resident of Red Wing, died Sunday, Aug. 5, at the Seminary Home.
Gladys Marie Siewert, 96, lifelong resident of Red Wing, died Sunday, Aug. 5, at the Seminary Home.
She was born April 9, 1916, to Christian and Emma (Hesbeck) Fellman and attended country schools. She was united in marriage to Vernon Siewert on March 14, 1938, in Kenosha, Wis., where she had been living at the time. They returned to the area and lived and farmed in Goodhue. She also worked at Riedell Shoes for over 25 years, retiring in 1980. Vernon died in 1958.
Gladys was involved with the Senior Federation for many years and was also involved at St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was a member. She was an avid walker, and she also enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by three children, Helen (Gene) Hase of Hager City, Richard (Sandy) Siewert of Maple Grove, and Alice (Richard) Callstrom of White Rock; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Leonard Fellman of Big Lake and Marvin (Judy) Fellman of Maple Grove.
She was preceded in death by her husband and siblings Irene, Kenneth and Harlan Fellman and Dorothie Hauschildt.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with Reverend Loren Lucht officiating. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to the church or donor's choice.
