Suzanne Metzler Enebak of Taylors Falls, Minn., entered Eternal Rest on Tuesday, July 10, at the age of 64.
Suzanne was born Nov. 2, 1947, in Red Wing, Minn., to Joseph F. and Carmen Metzler. She grew up in Red Wing. She attended Winona State College and graduated in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in art. After college, she worked for a short time at AAA as a travel agent. She then worked at St. Paul Companies and at W.A. Lang as a claims adjuster for 12 years.
Suzanne met her husband, Tom, on a blind date through their roommates in 1971. They lived in Burnsville, St. Paul, and finally Taylors Falls where they put down roots, bought a house on River Street, and had their children, Maja and Cully. Eventually, she took a part-time job at the Taylors Falls Elementary School cafeteria until 2010. She was diagnosed at this time with a rare soft tissue cancer.
What gave her joy besides family and dear friends were books, animals, food, dance, clothes, nature, and of course - music. She spent 7 years as the coordinator of the Christian band LightShine. Devotion kept her showing up to sing for rehearsal and worship service, despite her illness. Her beautiful voice also graced the church choir for 28 years, as well as the community choir. Suzanne took pride in being part of the library and worship committees and was superintendent of the Sunday school at First Evangelical Lutheran Church for 7 years.
Preceded in death by her father, Joseph P. Metzler.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; daughter, Maja Enebak; son Cully (Megan) Enebak and their son, Devin Matthew; son Fenn (Tami) Cournoyer and their children, Anthony and Tara Cournoyer; her mother, Carmen Metzler; sister, Monica (Ed) Cook; nephews, Alex (Sarah) and Adrian (Jenna) Cook.
The family will greet friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, Minn. Memorial services will be held Friday at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Taylors Falls. Private interment will be at a later date.
