Charles Richard Dornack, 73, died Saturday, July 7, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Charles Richard Dornack, 73, died Saturday, July 7, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

He was born June 3, 1939, in Rochester, to William and Ellen (Dow) Dornack. He attended school in Wabasha, Minn. After graduating high school in 1957, he joined the Army and served as a paratrooper. Following his service, he began working as a zoning administrator for the state in Buffalo, Minn. In 1978, he transferred to Red Wing and began working as a zoning administrator for Goodhue County. He continued working for the county for more than 30 years before retiring at age 62.

On March 2, 2002, he married Fran Hayman. The couple enjoyed their lives together in Red Wing until Chuck’s passing. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching sports, and watching old westerns.

Charles is survived by his wife, Fran Hayman; daughter, Beth (Tom) Mulhurn of Shoreview, Minn.; step-daughter, Heather (Bill) Earney of Red Wing, Minn.; four grandchildren; one sister, Nancy (Ron) Craigmile of Wabasha, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.

A Celebration of Life will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, July 15, at Mr. Bilz in Red Wing. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.
