Calvin L. Bolin, age 77, of Red Wing, died June 24 at his home.

Calvin was born on Aug. 15, 1934, the son of Everett and Myrtle (Nordgard) Bolin. He attended a rural country school in Ellsworth, Wis. He served in the U.S. Army, where he participated in special weapons training and was a military police officer stationed in Germany. Calvin grew up farming in rural Ellsworth and was truly a farmer at heart. He worked at King Midas Flour Mill from 1961 to 1965 and began dairy farming in 1965. He continued to milk cows until 1998 and then crop farmed until 2007.
Calvin married Julie Raasch on Jan. 28, 1961, in Red Wing.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Julie; five children, Karen Bolin (husband, Don Grim) of Pine Island, Kevin (Diane) Bolin of Eagle, Neb., Kelly (Maria) Bolin of Goodhue, Kory (Emmie) Bolin of Red Wing, and Kristina (Justin) Redalen of Fountain, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, Jeremiah, Marie, Micah, Noah, Jonah, Elijah, Julia, Joanna, Janessa, Ben, Peyton, and Josh; two sisters, Lisa (Doug) Kircher, Jacksonville, Ill., and Bonnie (Cal) Johnson, Menomonie, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Marlys Lindholm; stepmother, Agnes Bolin; and grandson Christopher Bolin.
Visitation and funeral will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue, Minn. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, and 1 hour prior to the service. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. June 29 with lunch to follow. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing.
Memorials are preferred to the St. John's Parochial School in Goodhue.
