Scott Allen Skorude, 57, of Hager City, died Tuesday, May 29, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, the result of complications sustained in an automobile accident which occurred Jan. 22, 2011.
Scott Allen Skorude, 57, of Hager City, died Tuesday, May 29, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, the result of complications sustained in an automobile accident which occurred Jan. 22, 2011.
He was born Nov. 8, 1954, in Red Wing, the son of Peter and Esther (Buck) Skorude. He grew up in the 8th Street area and was a Red Wing Central High School graduate. He attended Red Wing Vo-Tech, studying refrigeration for 2 years. He worked for Althoff Hardware in Cannon Falls and at Riester Refrigeration in Red Wing for 5 years before going to work at Red Wing Shoe in the shipping department. He married Terry Knudsen, his high school sweetheart, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Sept. 17, 1977.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed restoring antique vehicles, especially his 1948 Plymouth and his 1951 Ford pickup. He also enjoyed going to car shows, woodworking, furniture making, spending time with his grandkids, and making beautiful wooden silhouettes on his scroll saw.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Terry of Hager City; his children, Sarah (Thomas) Hedeen of Red Wing and Matt (Amanda) Skorude of Red Wing; grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Elijah, and Kaden; siblings, Fred Skorude of Illinois, Tom Skorude of Red Wing, and Mary Ann (Tom) Ogden of Red Wing; several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Reverend Jack Nordgaard officiating. Burial will be in Trenton Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and on Saturday for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
