Laurinda Emma Schultz, 89, of Red Wing, died Monday, May 28, at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center.
Laurinda Emma Schultz, 89, of Red Wing, died Monday, May 28, at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center.
She was born on Aug. 21, 1922, in Mazeppa, Minn., to John and Clara (Prigge) Damman. She attended rural schools near Mazeppa and was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mazeppa. For a few years she helped families in the Mazeppa area on their farms. On Sept. 29, 1943, she was married to Reynold Schultz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mazeppa. They farmed near Goodhue, moving to Frontenac in 1955 and to Red Wing in 1999. She worked for Riedell Shoes for many years, retiring in 1984. Reynold died on Nov. 30, 1999. She had resided at Jordon Towers and more recently at the Fairview Seminary Home.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Frontenac. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, crocheting, camping, and playing cards.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette Bubbers of Lake City and Judy (Daniel) Anderson of Turtle Lake, Wis.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, LaVerle Roschen of Red Wing; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; granddaughter Dawn Anderson; one brother, Elton, and one sister, Rosella Mueller.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Frontenac with Rev. Christopher Hopper officiating. Burial will be in the Burnside Cemetery in Red Wing. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and at the church for 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
