John F. Reiland, 65, of Wanamingo, formerly of Mazeppa, died Sunday, May 13, at his home at Riverview Manor in Wanamingo.
John F. Reiland, 65, of Wanamingo, formerly of Mazeppa, died Sunday, May 13, at his home at Riverview Manor in Wanamingo.
He was born on May 14, 1946, in Red Wing, to Bernard M. and Cyril (Barry) Reiland. He attended Mazeppa Public School. He lived and worked on the family farm until 2005 when he moved to Wanamingo. John worked and participated in social activities at ProAct in Zumbrota and Red Wing. He played baseball at Miracle Field in Rochester and attended summer camp at Camp Winnebago in Caledonia.
John lived and breathed the Minnesota Twins and especially enjoyed going to the games. His favorite Twins players were Kirby Puckett and Harmon Killebrew.
He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa.
John is survived by his father, Bernard M.; brother, Bernard J. (Ella-May) Reiland of White Bear Lake; sisters, Margaret Tri of Mazeppa, Elizabeth (Melvin) Joe of Rochester, Helen (Mike Holtorf) Reiland - Peter of Mazeppa, Rose (Stan) Ferguson of Dodge Center; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and -nephews.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Cyril; maternal and paternal grandparents; and brother-in-law Don Tri.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa, with Father Robert Meyer presiding. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, May 15, at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota, and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Please show your Twins pride by wearing Twins memorabilia to the services in John’s honor.
