Robert Warren Mackensen was born on Oct. 18, 1920, in Hammond, Ind., to Henry and Laura (Bohnsack) Mackensen. He went to his eternal home on April 18.

After graduating from Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Springfield, Ill., in l945, he served his vicarage at Concordia Lutheran Church, Akron, Ohio.
His marriage to Lois Esther Harnack on Jan. 27, 1945, began a 65-year long partnership blessed with four children. With Lois at his side, he served congregations from 1945-1989 in Montana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado, and North Carolina.
At his passing, he was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Red Wing, Minn.
Survivors include his children, Ruth (Dave) Amundson of Westby, Wis., Laurie Gutzman of Cleburne, Texas, Sarah (Gordy) Schmidt of Gaylord, Minn., and Norman (Gail) Mackensen of Franklin, Wis.; grandchildren, Joe (Amy) Gutzman, Chaz Gutzman, and Christy (Bobby) Pergason, all residing in Texas; Angie (Rob) Brau, Kelly (Joe) Dziedzic, and Kate (Matt) Rabe, all of Minnesota; Rachel, Andrew and Leah Mackensen, all of Wisconsin.
Texas great-grandchildren include Alicia, Steve, and Cassie Davis; CJ Gutzman; Rose Peterson; Hannah, Grace, and Willow Pergason. Minnesota great-grandchildren include Leyton, Kerigan, and Pierson Brau; Liam Dziedzic; Genesis and Matthew Rabe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois; his brother, Gordon; his sister, Dorothy; and son-in-law Harold (Buddy) Gutzman.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 18, at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. The family suggests memorials to the donor's choice.
