Alice Emily Finstuen, 90, formerly of Red Wing, died Sunday, Jan. 8, at Gables Care Center in Oak Park Heights, Minn.

Alice Emily Finstuen, 90, formerly of Red Wing, died Sunday, Jan. 8, at Gables Care Center in Oak Park Heights, Minn.

She was born the youngest of 10 children on March 30, 1921, in Chester Township, near Lake City, the daughter of John and Paulina (Sprikes) Stehr. She married Herman Finstuen on March 13, 1943. They farmed near Goodhue and Zumbrota and moved to Zumbrota after selling the farm in 1964. She worked at the Zumbrota Care Center from 1964-1984. They retired and moved to Red Wing in 1984. Herman died Oct. 16, 1998. Alice was a longtime resident of the Downtown Plaza, moving to Gables Care Center in Oak Park Heights in 2011. She was a member of United Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn (Vincent Miller) Bates of Woodbury; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Stoffel of Plymouth, Minn., Holly (Eric) Miller of Lanexa, Va., Nathan (Kerri) Finstuen of LaCrescent, Minn., Emily (Matthew) Grace of Minnetonka, Minn., Nicholas Isaac of Atlanta, Ga., and Alexander Isaac of St. Paul; five great-grandchildren, Madison and Mathias Stoffel, Benjamin and Allison Finstuen, and Logan Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman; one son, Gary Finstuen; five brothers, Ernest, Albert, Rudolf, John and Herbert Stehr; four sisters, Henrietta Meincke, Florence Meincke, Ida Schumann, and Lenora Kackmann.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Randall Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church.
