Lucille V. Peterson, 95, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park.
Lucille V. Peterson, 95, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park.
She was born March 22, 1916, in Warsaw Township, Goodhue County, to Nels and Alma Victoria (Lundeen) Johnson. She graduated from high school in Cannon Falls on May 2, 1933.
On May 2, 1936, she married C. Raymond Peterson in Red Wing. They farmed in Vasa Township before moving to Red Wing in 1981. They also had a catering business for a number of years. He died on June 3, 2000.
She was a member of Vasa Lutheran Church and active in the Ladies Mission Group. She volunteered at St. John's Hospital Auxiliary as a Pink Lady and also volunteered her time in the Red Wing, Vasa, and Goodhue areas.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Hawkenson of Red Wing and Jane (Carmen) Priesz of Sioux Falls, S.D.; one son, Lowell Peterson of Cannon Falls; nine grandchildren, Joyann Johnson, Blake Hawkenson, Eric Priesz, Stephanie Krenik, Rhonda Hayes, Scott Peterson, Steve Peterson, Sarah Hinsch, and Shane Peterson; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; two sister, Viola Jagusch of Bellevue, Neb., and Regina Ryan of Richardson, Texas; and one brother, Norris Johnson of Cannon Falls.
She is preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Willard Johnson; one sister, Eleanor Peterson; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Vasa Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristi Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Vasa Lutheran Church, Red Wing Area Food Shelf, and the American Cancer Society.
