Ruth Ofstie, 77, Red Wing, died Sunday, Dec. 25, at Fairview Medical Center, Red Wing.

Ruth Ofstie, 77, Red Wing, died Sunday, Dec. 25, at Fairview Medical Center, Red Wing.

She was born on May 3, 1934, in Goodhue, Minn., to Herman and Clara (Beckstrom) Froyum. She graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1952. She continued her education and went on to become a lab technician. She was employed by the Interstate Medical Center (later becoming Fairview Medical Center) and retired in 1989. She was united in marriage to Joel Ofstie on May 11, 1957.

Ruth was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed playing cards and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. She volunteered as a Pink Lady for the hospital auxiliary and also volunteered for the local Red Cross blood drives. Ruth enjoyed time at their cabin on Turtle Lake, Wis.

Survivors include her husband, Joel; two children, Jeff (Kathy) Ofstie of Goodhue and Sue (Mike) Moldenhauer of Hager City; six grandchildren, Jessie (Ryan) Wolfe, Josie (Jerry) Tayse, Jackie (C.J.) Windschill, Josh Ofstie, Lucas (Mandy) Moldenhauer, and Sam (fiancée Sierra Flueger) Moldenhauer; seven great-grandchildren, Caleb, Chloe, Lydia, and Levi Wolfe, Ethan Tayse, and Carter and Alexander Moldenhauer; sister, Doris (Don) Grenier; sister-in-law, Mary Lou McHugh, and brother-in-law, Jon (Jeanne) Ofstie.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 24686 Old Church Rd., Red Wing, with Pastor Lowell Sorenson officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Dear Sue and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. My own mother passed away a few years ago, unexpectedly. I still miss her very much but the memories carry on. A mother's love is never forgotten. God Bless you and my prayers are with you. Joan Neubauer
