Martha V. Wagner, 98

Mrs. Wagner, 98, of Red Wing, Minn., and formerly of Bellechester, died Monday, Nov. 21, at Valentines Assisted Living in Red Wing.

The funeral Mass for Martha V. Wagner will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bellechester, Minn., with Father Bruce Peterson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Bellechester.

Mrs. Wagner, 98, of Red Wing, Minn., and formerly of Bellechester, died Monday, Nov. 21, at Valentines Assisted Living in Red Wing.

Martha Veronica Poncelet was born May 11, 1913, in Bellechester, to Mathias and Frances (Perrotte) Poncelet. She grew up and attended school in Bellechester. On Sept. 16, 1937, she married Lawrence Wagner in Bellechester; he died Feb. 1, 1986. Martha worked on the family farm at Bellechester, retired, and moved into Bellechester and continued her large flower gardens.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bellechester. Martha loved her family, landscaping, gardening, and growing flowers and sharing them with others. She maintained the flowers in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery for years. Martha liked having traditions, especially Christmas, playing cards, telling stories of the olden days, and loved to travel and winter in Texas.

Martha is survived by her two sons, Ron (Margaret) Wagner of Mazeppa, Minn., and Bob Wagner of Rochester, Minn.; two daughters, Mary (Dick) Omdahl of Peshtigo, Wis., and Lynda (Nick) Arendt of Lake City, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, Tom, Raleigh, Colleen, Maria, Matt, Greg, Laura, Rachel, Sarah, Nick, Brian, and Aaron; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Burdick of Wabasso, Minn.; and one brother-in-law, Norm Jones of St. Paul, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Gary; and one great-grandchild, Christopher.

Friends and family may visit from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bellechester, and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials are preferred to Meals on Wheels.
