Elaine Louise Meier, 80

Elaine Louise Meier passed away on Nov. 15 at the Community-Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Mo., at the age of 80.

Elaine Louise Meier, the daughter of Elmer F. and Elvira (Lohman) Steele, was born on Feb. 9, 1931, in Red Wing, Minn. Elaine attended school in Red Wing, graduating in 1952. She then attended Dunwoody Business School in Minneapolis, Minn., receiving an associate's degree in business.

On June 25, 1955, Elaine was united in marriage to Clifford Eugene Meier in Trenton, Wis. Following Clifford's discharge from the Army, they made their home in the Westboro, Mo., area.

Elaine loved children and enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren and many other children in the area. She enjoyed camping and talking on the CB radio, recognized by the handle of "Fanny Whacker." For a few years, she was also employed by H&R Block during tax season. Elaine was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Westboro.

Elaine passed away on Nov. 15 at the Community-Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Mo., at the age of 80.

Besides her parents and husband, Elaine was preceded in death by granddaughter Jodi Meier; brother, Donald Steele; one infant sister; and brothers-in-law Vernie Aslakson, Bob Wynn, and Burton Dodge.

Survivors include daughters, Sheree Lynn Shaw and husband, Timothy, Westboro, and Sue Ellen Meier, Tarkio, Mo.; son, Steven Eugene Meier and wife, Shari, Essex, Iowa; grandchildren Shannon Shaw, Jason Meier and friend, Tiffany Musgrove, Heith Shaw and wife, Cassie; great-grandchildren, Brittney and Courtney Meier and Devon and Ethan Yoshida; siblings Audrey Wynn, Willard Steele and wife, Joan, Vernon Steele and wife, Mary, Leonard Steele and wife, LuAnn, Joan Aslakson, and Jeanie Dodge; sister-in-law, Donna Steele; brother-in-law, Robert Meier and wife, Orma, Tarkio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and interment: 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, St. John's Cemetery, Westboro. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. Memorials: St. John's Lutheran Church, Westboro or Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care, Tarkio.
