Irene A. Fiedler, 95, of Prescott, Wis., died Monday, March 15, at home.

She was born Feb. 5, 1915, in Nininger Township, Minn., to Henry and Emma (Krumm) Trapp. She married Leon Fiedler on Sept. 28, 1940. They farmed for many years on the Fiedler homestead. She enjoyed living on the farm and being a homemaker.

Irene enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, making angel food cakes and coffeecake, embroidery, weaving rag rugs, and playing euchre. She grew African violets for which she won many awards and was nationally recognized with one of her winning violets pictured on the African Violet Magazine cover. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hastings.

She is survived by son, Hilton, and daughter, Sandra; sisters-in-law, Pearl Trapp and Violet Peterson; and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon; parents; Henry and Emma, brothers, Henry and Roy Trapp; and sisters, Helen Schaar and Lucille Trapp

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 19, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 202 W. Eighth St., Hastings, with Reverend Percy Damrow and Vicar Preston Heuer officiating. Burial will be at Pine Glen Cemetery, Prescott. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Hill Funeral Home, Prescott, and for one hour prior to the service at church

Memorials preferred to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and Fairview Red Wing Hospice.
