Janice J. Heise, 74, of Goodhue, died on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at her home in Goodhue.

Janice J. Heise, 74, of Goodhue, died on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at her home in Goodhue. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Goodhue with Reverend Randall Kuznicki officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2009, from 4 - 8 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Goodhue and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Janice Jean Thomforde was born on Feb. 7, 1935, in Red Wing, Minn., to Alfred and Wildonna (nee Buck) Thomforde. She grew up in rural Goodhue, attended country school and graduated from Goodhue High School in 1952. On Feb. 12, 1955, she married Roger W. Heise at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue. They farmed in rural Goodhue until 1987, when they moved to Goodhue. Janice worked for 12 years for West Publishing in Red Wing, and other part-time jobs until 2007 when she retired.

Janice was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Goodhue, where she was active in the Ladies Aid and Quilting group. Janice enjoyed traveling south in the winter for many years, playing cards, games with her grandchildren and family gatherings.

Janice is survived by her husband, Roger; five children, Mark (Tina) Heise of Goodhue; Merri (John) Ramboldt of Goodhue; Holly (John) Springer of St. Peter; Kent (Carrie) Heise of Mankato, and Kristen Heise of Red Wing; 11 grandchildren, Sarah Heise, Merrisa, Jill and Diann Ramboldt, Elisabeth, William, Marta and Matthew Springer, Brittany, Aiden and Reiss Musty; one sister Arlis (Morris) Meincke of Lake City; her aunt and godmother Florence (Thomforde) Reincke and her aunt Bernice Buck. Janice was preceded in death by her parents and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Casketbearers are Steve and Jim Heise, Ron Meincke, Ralph Goetting, Clark Cords, Byron Lambert, Lavern Dammann, Neil Brunkhorst and Larry Schafer.

Honorary bearers are her grandchildren and godchildren, Cindy (Cords) Goette, Cheri Heise, Joanne (Meincke) Beltz, Connie (Heise) Sturgis, Kay (Cords) Wytaske, Carol (Dammann) Rolph, Beth (Isense) Skalko, Lisa (Heitman) Larson, Mark Nibbe and Christine (Heitman) Genung.

Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
