Nicholas "Nick" Allen Bayer, 29, of Ellsworth, passed away after a tragic accident on Friday, May 8, 2009.

Nicholas "Nick" Allen Bayer, 29, of Ellsworth, passed away after a tragic accident on Friday, May 8, 2009.

He was born in Red Wing, Minn., on May 26, 1979, to Randy and Sandra (Hanson) Bayer. Nick loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He belonged to the Ellsworth Fire Department and the Ellsworth Hubbers baseball team. He loved baseball and football with his favorite teams being the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. He loved spending time with his family and friends and being down at the Rush River.

Nick is survived by his parents, Randy and Sandy Bayer of Ellsworth; a sister, Tara (Ben) Huppert of Prescott; loving girlfriend, Dani Taplin of Ellsworth; maternal grandma, Marcella Hanson; a niece, Addyson Huppert; and further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Harold and Delores Bayer; and maternal grandparent, Darwin Hanson.

A memorial service for Nick will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth with Father Tom Donaldson officiating. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery with honorary pallbearers being Luke Nelson, Brent Hove, Luke Fleming, Scott DeWyre, Dusty Olson, and Roger Nelson. A memorial visitation will be on Monday from 3-8 p.m. and again one hour prior the service, all at St. Francis Catholic Church.
