Marian Rodewald, 85

Marian Maxine Rodewald, age 85, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, at the Plum City Care Center where she was a resident for the past 5 years.

She was born the daughter of Melvin and Jennie (Bolin) Gilbertson on Sept. 8, 1927, in Maiden Rock Township. Marian was baptized into the Christian faith on May 11, 1938, at Sabylund Lutheran Church. She attended Pine Creek School and graduated from Maiden Rock High School in 1946. Marian loved music and played clarinet in the school band. On June 6, 1953, she married Robert Rodewald in Mantorville, Minn. Throughout the years, the couple owned and operated several businesses together. Marian also spent some years working at Jostens's and the Plum City Drug Store.

She enjoyed dancing, reading, and animals. Most important to her was her family. She loved time with her family, especially Sunday dinners and holidays. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was an exceptional caregiver to those close to her.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Jennie Gilbertson; husband, Robert Rodewald; brother, Norman Gilbertson; and grandson Joseph Rodewald.

She is survived by her children, Ricky Rodewald of Tucson, Ariz., James (Kathy Jo) Rodester of Lake City, Minn., Judy Rodewald of Ellsworth, Wis., and Brenda (Joseph) Flo of Bay City, Wis.; grandchildren, Corey Bohmbach, Leann (Andrew) Larson, Eric Rodewald, Ryan Rodewald, Victoria Davis, Spencer Sullivan, Evan Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Kennesy Taylor, Annalise Larson, Tyarn Larson, Sophia Larson, Re'Anna Rodewald, Reese Rodewald, Rozaley Clack; step-grandson, Terry Webster; step-great-grandson, Noah Lyttle; sister-in-law, Patricia Gilbertson; many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Bakken-Young Funeral Home in Maiden Rock. Visitation will also be Thursday from 10-11 a.m. before the service. Spring interment will be in the Maiden Rock Cemetery.
