Group kicks off Soles4Souls

The Christ Church Episcopal Church youth group will kick off its charity drive Friday. Youths are collecting new and gently used shoes for Soles4Souls.

The international organization responds to natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and Indonesia’s tsunami.

Soles4Souls also has delivered shoes to sections of Africa where children are getting infected with hook worm because they are walking in unsanitary conditions.

People may drop off shoes at Christ Church, Sears and Lawrence Bohmbach Insurance. Youths are hoping to collect 1,000 pairs of shoes. In addition, the group is seeking monetary donations to defray shipping, which typically is approximately $1 per pair.
