Gerald "Jerry" Westerberg, age 79, passed away peacefully at the Prescott Care Center on Thursday, Dec. 13, surrounded by his family.

Gerald "Jerry" Westerberg, age 79, passed away peacefully at the Prescott Care Center on Thursday, Dec. 13, surrounded by his family.

He was born Oct. 13, 1933, in Stockholm, the son of Roy and Caryle (Anderson) Westerberg. After graduation from high school, he served 4 years in the Navy during the Korean War.

He married Bernice Anderson Oct. 6, 1956, in Clear Lake, Iowa.

He worked on road construction and at Durkee Atwood before moving to Prescott in 1960 where he worked 33-plus years at 3M.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, watching the Green Bay Packers, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by wife Bernice; daughter Julie Hoeschen; sons Mike Westerberg and Rod (Jean) Westerberg; grandchildren Leah, Richard, Cale, Megan, and Josh; great-grandchildren Zack, Matthew, and Hunter; sisters-in-law Irene Westerberg, Zelda Erickson, Sharon Anderson; brother-in-law Roger (Sally) Anderson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Merle and Dwelton; and sisters, Marjorie and Mavis.

A memorial service for Jerry will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Prescott United Church of Christ with Reverend Matt Schneider-Adams officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Pine Glen Cemetery at a later date.
