Audrey Esterby Staats, age 88, of Red Wing, formerly of River Falls, died Friday, Aug. 3, at the Red Wing Health Center, Red Wing, Minn.

Audrey Esterby Staats, age 88, of Red Wing, formerly of River Falls, died Friday, Aug. 3, at the Red Wing Health Center, Red Wing.

Audrey was born on Aug. 15, 1923, in the town of Hartland, Pierce County, Wis., to Clarence and Mabel (Esterby) Brohaugh. She grew up on a farm near Ellsworth and attended country school, graduating from Ellsworth High School in 1942. Audrey worked at various office jobs and enjoyed her career until she married Lyle Staats in 1964. They shared their love of family and coffee shop adventures for many years.

Audrey was a lifelong resident of Pierce County with the exception of living in Red Wing for the past 2 years at the Red Wing Health Center.

Audrey is survived by three children: Gary Larson, River Falls; Karen Seifert, Red Wing; Stephen (Anne) Staats, Welch, Minn.; brother Claire (Karen) Brohaugh, River Falls; nine grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, and siblings Arley Brohaugh, Joel Brohaugh, and Elaine Torseth.

The funeral service for Audrey will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at New River Assembly of God Church in Red Wing, with Reverend Thomas Johnson officiating. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial in River Falls will be held privately at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the church or donor's choice.
