Peter, Barbara and Ben von Haaren have been involved in Special Olympics Minnesota for more than 20 years. The family — which includes Ben’s sisters, Christiana and Erika — was selected as the 2011 Special Olympics Minnesota Outstanding Family and will be honored at a banquet Sept. 24.
