The Mississippi River flowing past Red Wing suffers from high turbidity, according to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. That means the river has too much sediment, or soil mixed with the water, to meet the state standard for aquatic life. The MPCA has launched a plan to reduce that sediment.
