Feds agree to pay Xcel nearly $100 million for failing to take spent fuel
Xcel Energy and the U.S. Department of Energy have reached a settlement regarding costs incurred by Northern States Power Co. and its customers because of the federal government’s failure to begin removing used fuel from Minnesota nuclear plants by a 1998 deadline.
