10 Days Out — Oct. 21-31, 2010
SPOTLIGHT: Trunk or Treat The second Trunk or Treat, a family-friendly, kid-safe costume parade and Halloween celebration sponsored by Downtown Main Street, will be held downtown on Oct. 30. Last year’s inaugural Halloween event stunned sponsors, who scrambled to found enough candy and treats when downtown was overrun by huge crowds of costumed youngsters and their families - including costumed pets. Again this year, everyone is invite to gather in Studebaker Ramp for a costume parade through downtown. Community groups, businesses and individuals will fill the trunks of their vehicles with treats and back them to the curb so youngsters can trick-or-treat from the sidewalks. After the parade there’ll be a kid-friendly haunted house at the Sheldon Theatre and dance music at Cornerstone Community Church. Local 4-H’ers will bring animals to enjoy, and there’ll be some pumpkin carving, too. When: 2:45-5 p.m. Where: downtown Red Wing Cost: FreeBy: Ruth Nerhaugen, The Republican Eagle
