Hanson offers dementia education
Karen Hanson will give a public presentation at 10 a.m. Tuesday March 26 about caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia. She is a community service manager at Home Instead Senior Care.
Learn techniques to handle challenging behaviors and ideas for encouraging people to become engaged in mental, physical and social activities. Become familiar with activities suitable for people with late stage Alzheimer’s disease to stimulate their five senses.
Free, open to the public, all ages welcomed. Please RSVP to the Senior Center by Friday March 22.
Learn about Facebook
Facebook, a popular social networking website, allows you to make connections, share interests and join groups. For many older adults, Facebook offers opportunities to stay in touch with friends and catch up on grandchildren.
Learn how to create, use and maintain a Facebook page at 1 p.m. Wednesday March 27 from Tom and Judy Walsh. Bring your laptop if you have one. Call the Senior Center to register. Cost is $10 for members, $12 nonmembers.
Helgen explains financial elder abuse
Tom Helgen, associate director of Consumer Outreach, speaks about financial elder abuse at 1 p.m. Tuesday March 26. The presentation is free and open to the public.
