Crews respond to small fire at Red Wing Public Library

Red Wing Fire Department responded to a fire call at Red Wing Public Library at about 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Crews were on scene within three minutes of the call and discovered that the building's sprinkler system had already put out a fire that had started in a bathroom.

Crews were on scene within three minutes of the call and discovered that the building's sprinkler system had already put out a fire that had started in a bathroom, a statement from the fire department said.

Smoke and fire damage was minimal; however water damage may have occurred to adjacent offices and rooms in the lower floor of the building. A representative from the City of Red Wing Public works was coordinating water removal and restoring the building's fire prevention systems.

A total of three full-time firefighter/paramedics were on scene for about one hour.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Red Wing Police Department and the

City of Red Wing Fire Marshal.
